Roverman Productions presents its annual Festival of Plays at the National Theatre this December and January.
Showing at 4pm and 8pm on 24 December is “Terms of Divorce” in which Ethel, a bitter unhappy woman, wants divorce from her husband of 20 years. She engages Michael Ababio as her lawyer. Her outraged husband, Ralph Arthur, picks Baaba, the ex-wife of Michael to represent him. This sparks fireworks in and out of the court between the two lawyers and their clients. Things come to a head when Ethel and her lawyer present their terms of divorce. The counter offer of Ralph and his lawyer falls far short of what Ethel is demanding. However, before the court grants the divorce, it orders the couple to see a marriage counselor.
Ethel and Ralph reluctantly comply with only one thing in mind – to convince the counselor that their marriage is broken beyond salvation. At the marriage counselor’s place, the couple and their lawyers discover to their shock that the counselor’s wife of 30 years is mentally retarded; that is when things get hopelessly out of hand.
“Terms of Divorce” is an unforgettable journey of emotions, excitement, wit and humour. It challenges married couples not to bury love, alive.
